On The Body Of The Condemned And The Scaffolding Of Torture As A Spectacle

The punishment-body relation is not the same as it once was in the torture of the body during public executions. The use of these new technologies are to manipulate and exploit perceived threats through repeated Disabling, Disrupting, Degrading, and finally Destroying the victim’s spirit and ultimately their soul.

There are no longer any of those executions in which the condemned man was dragged along on a hurdle to prevent his head from smashing the cobble-stones, in which his belly was opened up, his entrails quickly ripped out, so that he had time to see them, with his own eyes, being thrown on the fire; in which he was finally decapitated and his body quartered.
